Annual Highlights

2014 HIGHLIGHTS

RESIDENTS
• Housing and other care was provided to 102 residents … 47 children, 44 women and 11 men.
• At year’s end we had 41 residents, and had a waiting list.

LIFE SKILLS ASSISTANCE
• Provided guidance for raising children, building healthy relationships, and managing finances. Also
provided ways to overcome addictions, depression, anger, and fear … resulting in a much better life.

JOBS
• Provided jobs and job training for 38 people at our two thrift stores.
• Helped residents get permanent jobs at local businesses.
• Provided work clothing, transportation to work, and other job assistance.

RESIDENT ACTIVITIES
• Provided fun outings to Alexander Springs, game and movie nights, sporting events.
• Hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas meals/events for our residents.

CHARITY CONTRIBUTIONS and COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE
• Over $160,000 was donated by individuals, businesses, foundations, civic groups and churches.
• Three cars were donated to help provide transportation for volunteers and residents and to generate income through re-sales.
• Clothes, food, meals, toiletries, furniture, and other items were donated.
• Christmas gifts were provided for our children and families by churches, civic groups, and individuals.
• Over 5,000 volunteer hours were donated at our thrift stores, office, and in handyman support.

WEEKDAY MORNING DEVOTIONALS
• Provided personal growth through Bible teaching, prayer, worship, and group discussion.
• Business and church leaders offered their time to lead some of the devotionals.
• Morning attendance averaged 20 to 30 people.

JAIL MINISTRY
• Went into the Marion County jail and provided inmates with Christian teaching, prayer and music.

ABOUT: Helping Hands was incorporated in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, and is funded by individuals, businesses, churches, and civic groups. We do not solicit or receive government funding, only volunteer donations.
